Το «Διαβαλκανικό Φεστιβάλ Αρχαίου Δράματος / Interbalkan Festival of Ancient Drama» αποτελεί έναν νέο διεθνή καλλιτεχνικό θεσμό που ιδρύεται από την Περιφέρεια Αττικής και καθιερώνεται από το Καλοκαίρι του 2022 σε ετήσια βάση, με πρωτοβουλία του Περιφερειάρχη Αττικής Γιώργου Πατούλη και της Εντεταλμένης Περιφερειακής Συμβούλου για τον Πολιτισμό Μαίρης Βιδάλη. Στόχος, η άοκνη συνεργασία και η σταθερή παρουσία στη χώρα μας καλλιτεχνών, θεσμών και σχημάτων από τα Βαλκάνια, που εργάζονται σε υψηλό καλλιτεχνικό επίπεδο, εστιάζοντας στο Αρχαίο Δράμα και την έρευνα γύρω από αυτό.
 
Βασική επιδίωξη του νέου φεστιβάλ αποτελεί η ανάδειξη της μεγάλης θεατρικής παράδοσης και της σύγχρονης δημιουργίας των βαλκανικών χωρών πάνω στο Αρχαίο Δράμα. Για τον λόγο αυτό, η ανασκαφή όλου του φάσματος της δημιουργίας που απαντάται στο θεατρικό παλίμψηστο της βαλκανικής χερσονήσου – από τις παραδοσιακές θεσμικές θεατρικές δυνάμεις, έως τις νέες καλλιτεχνικές τάσεις που αναζητούν καινούργιες δραματουργικές και αισθητικές φόρμες – αποτελεί προτεραιότητα.
 
Στο πολύπαθο γεωγραφικό τοπίο των Βαλκανίων, εκεί όπου οι άνθρωποι βίωσαν και βιώνουν σύγχρονες τραγωδίες, το Αρχαίο Δράμα με τη διεθνή του εμβέλεια, τον ουμανισμό και τη θεραπευτική του διάσταση, έχει τη δύναμη να αναδείξει τις συγγενικές μας παραδόσεις και μέσα από την ουσιαστική καλλιτεχνική συνάντηση να στρέψει την πυξίδα προς τη βαθιά και ειλικρινή φιλία των λαών.
 
Το  «Διαβαλκανικό Φεστιβάλ Αρχαίου Δράματος / Interbalkan Festival of Ancient Drama» αναμένεται να ξεκινήσει την παρουσίαση παραστάσεων και δράσεων το καλοκαίρι του 2023 με έναν καλλιτεχνικό προγραμματισμό διεθνών συμμετοχών, ο οποίος θα καταρτίζεται ετησίως κατόπιν ανοιχτού καλέσματος για την κατάθεση προτάσεων από την Ελλάδα και τις υπόλοιπες χώρες των Βαλκανίων.
 
Φέτος, το Φεστιβάλ θα συστηθεί στο ευρύ κοινό, διοργανώνοντας εναρκτήριο διεθνές συνέδριο με τίτλο:
 
«Το Αρχαίο Δράμα ως Διαχρονική Πηγή Έμπνευσης και Δημιουργίας».
 
Το συνέδριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Θέατρο Αττικού Άλσους «Κατίνα Παξινού» στις 25 και 26 Ιουλίου 2022, με τη συμμετοχή σημαντικών εκπροσώπων του βαλκανικού θεάτρου, οι οποίοι θα καταφτάσουν στη χώρα μας για να χαιρετήσουν τον νέο θεσμό και να συζητήσουν πάνω στην θεατρική πραγματικότητα του τόπου τους και τη σχέση της με το Αρχαίο Δράμα διαχρονικά, αλλά και σήμερα.
 
Οι ομιλίες/συζητήσεις θα πραγματοποιηθούν στις 25 Ιουλίου, ενώ στις 26 Ιουλίου θα παρουσιαστεί η παράσταση «ΙΚΕΤΙΔΕΣ» του Ευριπίδη σε μετάφραση και σκηνοθεσία Δήμου Αβδελιώδη.
 
Η είσοδος για όλες τις εκδηλώσεις του Διαβαλκανικού Φεστιβάλ Αρχαίου Δράματος της Περιφέρειας Αττικής είναι δωρεάν.
 
Κατάθεση προτάσεων για το 2023
Προτάσεις για τον καλλιτεχνικό προγραμματισμό του Διαβαλκανικού Φεστιβάλ Αρχαίου Δράματος που θα λάβει χώρα το καλοκαίρι του 2023 στο Θέατρο Αττικού Άλσους «Κατίνα Παξινού» οι ενδιαφερόμενοι από την Ελλάδα και τις υπόλοιπες χώρες των Βαλκανίων μπορούν να καταθέσουν ηλεκτρονικά στο interbalkanfestival@patt.gov.gr έως τις 30 Δεκεμβρίου 2022. Οι επιλεχθέντες θα ειδοποιηθούν έως τις 6 Μαρτίου 2023.

Όροι και προϋποθέσεις συμμετοχής
 

• Δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στο Φεστιβάλ έχουν όλοι οι καλλιτέχνες, ομάδες, θεσμοί, κολεκτίβες που προέρχονται από τα Βαλκάνια ή δραστηριοποιούνται στα Βαλκάνια ή έχουν μέλη που κατάγονται από τα Βαλκάνια και επιθυμούν να παρουσιάσουν θεατρική παράσταση που αφορά στο Αρχαίο Δράμα.
• Κάθε δημιουργός ή ομάδα μπορεί να υποβάλει μόνο μια πρόταση στο Φεστιβάλ.
• Το Φεστιβάλ δίνει ιδιαίτερο βάρος στο ερευνητικό θέατρο πάνω στο Αρχαίο Δράμα, στις νέες σκηνοθετικές και δραματουργικές φόρμες, στο πολυπολιτισμικό στοιχείο και στη συνεργασία Βαλκάνιων καλλιτεχνών με καλλιτέχνες και εκτός Βαλκανίων.
• Οι προτάσεις πρέπει να κατατίθενται γραμμένες στην ελληνική ή αγγλική γλώσσα.
• Η διάρκεια κάθε παράστασης προτείνεται να μην ξεπερνάει τα 90 λεπτά.
  • Κάθε πρόταση οφείλει να περιλαμβάνει φωτογραφίες, αποσπάσματα κριτικών και οπτικοακουστικό υλικό από προηγούμενες δράσεις-παραστάσεις του δημιουργού ή της ομάδας από την οποία γίνεται η πρόταση.
  • Για όλες τις παραστάσεις που γίνονται δεκτές από το εξωτερικό το Φεστιβάλ καλύπτει τη διαμονή,  την εστίαση και τις εσωτερικές μετακινήσεις εντός Αθηνών που αφορούν στη διοργάνωση για 4 έως 6 άτομα ανά παραγωγή και από 2 έως 4 ημέρες συνολικά ανά παραγωγή.
  • Οι προτάσεις που κατατίθενται από την Ελλάδα πρέπει να συνοδεύονται από το κόστος παρουσίασης της παράστασης, το οποίο καλύπτεται από το Φεστιβάλ εφόσον η παράσταση επιλεγεί.
  • Για όλες τις παραστάσεις που γίνονται δεκτές το Φεστιβάλ παρέχει την ηχητική και φωτιστική κάλυψη.
  • Για όλες τις παραστάσεις που γίνονται δεκτές το Φεστιβάλ παρέχει τη δυνατότητα προβολής υπερτίτλων.
  • Η δημιουργία των υπερτίτλων (στην ελληνική ή αγγλική γλώσσα για τα σχήματα που προέρχονται από το εξωτερικό και στην αγγλική γλώσσα για τα ελληνικά σχήματα) είναι ευθύνη των παραγωγών.
  • Τα αρχεία και το οπτικοακουστικό υλικό κάθε πρότασης που αποστέλλεται μέσω e-mail προτιμάται ιδανικά να τοποθετούνται σε ενεργούς συνδέσμους (links) που θα οδηγούν σε αυτά ή σε συνημμένα αρχεία που δεν ξεπερνούν συνολικά τα 3MB.
• Καμία πρόταση δεν γίνεται δεκτή μετά το πέρας της καταληκτικής ημερομηνίας που έχει ανακοινωθεί.
• Το Φεστιβάλ ενημερώνει κάθε υποψήφιο δημιουργό ή ομάδα για την αποδοχή ή μη της πρότασής του.
• Το Φεστιβάλ διατηρεί το δικαίωμα να μην δημοσιοποιεί τους λόγους για τους οποίους μια πρόταση γίνεται δεκτή ή όχι.
• Το Φεστιβάλ έχει το δικαίωμα να μαγνητοσκοπήσει μέρος του έργου ή ολόκληρο το έργο για αρχειακούς σκοπούς ή προωθητικές ενέργειες.
• Το Φεστιβάλ έχει δικαίωμα να φωτογραφίσει όλη την παράσταση, όπως και στιγμιότυπα από τα καμαρίνια και τις πρόβες για αρχειακούς σκοπούς ή προωθητικές ενέργειες
• Το Φεστιβάλ έχει το δικαίωμα να μεταδώσει μέσω social media μέρος της παράστασης ζωντανά ή μέρος των προβών ζωντανά για προωθητικούς λόγους
• Η ασφάλιση των εργαζομένων κάθε παράστασης αποτελεί βασική προϋπόθεση και είναι ευθύνη της εκάστοτε παραγωγής.
• Το Φεστιβάλ έχει το δικαίωμα να δώσει πρόσβαση στον Τύπο κατά τη διάρκεια των προβών μιας παράστασης για προωθητικούς λόγους
• Το Φεστιβάλ διατηρεί το δικαίωμα να προγραμματίσει -σε συνεννόηση με την εκάστοτε παραγωγή- την παρουσίαση της παράστασης περισσότερες από μία φορές.
• Το Φεστιβάλ διατηρεί το δικαίωμα να ακυρώσει σε εύλογο χρονικό διάστημα ή να αλλάξει τις ημερομηνίες και τον χώρο διεξαγωγής της εκδήλωσης.
• Όλες οι παραστάσεις και δράσεις του Φεστιβάλ πραγματοποιούνται με ελεύθερη είσοδο για το κοινό
• Η συμμετοχή στο Φεστιβάλ συνεπάγεται την αποδοχή όλων των παραπάνω όρων και προϋποθέσεων.

OPEN CALL: Proposal Submission for 2023
 
The “Interbalkan Festival of Ancient Drama” is a new International Institution founded by the Region of Attica, Greece, that will be inaugurated in summer 2022. The new Festival was initiated by the Regional Governor of Attica George Patoulis and the Executive Regional Consultant for Culture Mary Vidali and it will take place annually. Its aim is the constant presence in our country and the collaboration with artists, institutions and theatre and performance groups from around the Balkans who work at a high artistic level and have Ancient Drama and the artistic research around it as their focus. 
 
The main aspiration of the new Festival is the emergence of the great theatrical tradition and contemporality of Ancient Drama in the Balkan countries. This is why our priority is the excavation of the whole spectrum of creation we can encounter in the theatrical palimpsest of the Balkan Peninsula – ranging from the traditional and institutional theatrical forces to the new artistic endeavors seeking new dramaturgical and aesthetic forms.  
 
Inside the long-suffering landscape of the Balkans, where people have gone and still go through contemporary tragedies, Ancient Drama with its humanitarian, global and healing aspects, has the power to bring to light our kin traditions and, through a powerful artistic encounter, turn the tide towards the deep and honest friendship among the peoples. 
 
The Interbalkan Festival of Ancient Drama's artistic program of shows and events is expected to begin in summer 2023. This international program will be formed annually, following an open call for proposals from Greece and the other Balkan countries. 
 
This year the Festival will introduce itself to the public by organizing a Preliminary International Conference under the title:
 
“Ancient Drama as a Continuous Source of Inspiration and Creation”
 
The conference will take place at the Theatre of Attiko Alsos “Katina Paxinou” on the 25th and 26th of July, with the participation of important representatives of theatre in the Balkans, who will arrive in Athens, Greece in order to greet the new Institution and discuss the theatrical reality of their country and its relationship to Ancient Drama through both the lens of tradition and the one of contemporality.
 
The talks/discussions will take place on the 25th of July, while a performance of “The Suppliants” translated and directed by Dimos Avdeliodis will be presented on the 26th.
 
The entrance to all the events of the “Interbalkan Festival of Ancient Drama” organized by the Region of Attica is free.
 
OPEN CALL: Submission of proposals for 2023

Proposals concerning the artistic programming of the “Interbalkan Festival of Ancient Drama” that will take place at the Theatre of Attiko Alsos “Katina Paxinou” in summer 2023 from Greece and the other Balkan countries can be submitted online at interbalkanfestival@patt.gov.gr until the 30th of December 2022. The selected artists and groups will be notified until the 6th of March 2023.

Terms and Conditions of Participation
 

• All artists, theatre and performance groups, institutions and collectives coming from the Balkans, or making work primarily in the Balkans, or having members who come from the Balkans, or making work primarily in the Balkans who wish to present a show that deals to Ancient Drama, have the right to participate.
• Every artist or group can submit only one proposal to the Festival.
• The Festival places particular emphasis on artistic research on Ancient Drama, new directing and dramaturgical forms, the intercultural element and the collaboration of Balkan artists with artists outside the Balkans.
• The submitted applications must be written in Greek or English.
• The duration of each show must not exceed 90 minutes.
  • Every proposal has to include photos, excerpts from reviews and audiovisual material from previous events/shows of the artist or the group submitting the proposal.
  • When it comes to our selected international shows coming from abroad, the Festival covers accommodation, food and transport inside Athens for up to 4-6 people per selected production and for up to 2-4 days in total per selected production.
  • Proposals from Greece have to be accompanied by the cost of the show’s presentation, which is covered by the Festival provided that the proposal is selected.
  • The Festival covers sound and light for every show that is selected.
  • The Festival will have surtitles projected for every show that is selected. 
  • The creation of the surtitles (in Greek or English language for the groups coming from abroad and in English language for the Greek groups) is a responsibility of the producers of the show.
  • The files and audiovisual material of each proposal sent via e-mail are ideally preferred to be placed in active links that will lead to them or in attached files that do not exceed of 3MB totally in total.
• No proposal can be accepted after the deadline that has been announced
• The Festival will notify every candidate artist or group whether their proposal has been accepted or not.
• The Festival maintains the right to not notify the artist or group about the reason why their proposal has or has not been selected. 
• The Festival maintains the right to record part of the show or the whole show for actions related to publicity and for its archive.
• The Festival maintains the right to photograph the whole show, as well as backstage and rehearsal moments for actions related to publicity and for its archive.
• The Festival maintains the right to livestream through social media part of the show or part of the rehearsals for publicity purposes.
• The insurance of each show’s employee is a responsibility of the production of the show.
• The Festival maintains the right to give access to members of the Press during the rehearsals of each show for publicity purposes.
• The Festival maintains the right to program – provided that the production of each selected show agrees – each show for more than one time or day.
• The Festival maintains the right to cancel or change the dates and the venue where a show will take place.
• All shows and events of the Festival have a free entrance.
• Participation in the Festival implies the acceptance of all the above terms and conditions.​
